“He, who loves not his country, can love nothing.”

We may not think about this every day, but we are extremely blessed to be the citizen of Pakistan. If it had not been the heroic struggle of our forefathers, we had been bounded by the shackles of slavery even today.

A major event in our annual calendar is 23rd March no less important than other independence day. On that day, our forefathers decided to create a separate homeland for the Muslims of India. This decision marked a continuous effort to achieve freedom. Therefore, this day will always be remembered as a “red letter day” by us. Pakistan appeared on the map of the world on 14th August, 1947. Efforts were made under the supervision of great leader, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Pakistani nation celebrates Pakistan day with great enthusiasm every year on 23rd of March.

The day is Public holiday and is celebrated with lot of pomp and show. The day is started in Islamabad with the recitation of Holy Quran and National Anthem. This is followed by a glorious parade, the President, Prime Minister, Chief of Army staff, all the witnesses, a dazzling display of our military strength. Soldiers march in front of our leaders and show our deadliest and latest weapons. This is followed by a procession by the students of various schools. These children sing many patriotic songs. Then our leaders give short speeches reminding us the sacrifices made by our ancestors.

This day is blessing for us and it reminds us the glory of freedom. I too pray that may my country succeed by leaps and bound. May Allah bless my country now and forever (Ameen sum ameen) .

“Ask not what your country does for you, but what you can do for your country”
