Moin Akhtar, a young skinny man from Karachi, started his career in 1966 with a variety show, and before long became a face familiar across the nation for acting on TV, movies, stage and theatre and hosted, thousands of shows in Pakistan and abroad, and is arguably the finest actor/comedian/host that Pakistan has produced.
His name is synonymous with comedy acting in Pakistan. He is a talented artist of amazing abilities and has proven his abilities over the last many years he has been associated with Pakistani entertainment industry.
Moin Akhtar has shown amazing versatility and has proven it by impersonating almost any kind of personality and character. His role in the drama Rosy will be remembered for a long time, which was an Urdu adaptation of the famous Hollywood movie Tootsie starring Dustin Hoffman. His other memorable plays and dramas like Buddha Ghar Pe Hai will also be remembered for his matchless acting abilities. He hosted a number of stage shows like the Moin Akhtar Show. But his pairing with Anwar Maqsood in the TV shows Loose Talk had been a masterpiece.

For his services to the development of art, he was awarded with the prestigious awards of the President’s Pride of Performance Award and Sitar-e-Imtiaz. He is also listed among Amazing Pakistanis of all time. Legend and King of comedy Moin Akhtar passed away due to cardiac arrest on 22 April 2011 in Karachi. He was 61 years old.
