Waheed Murad will Live Forever!

Waheed Murad was a legendary romantic Pakistani actor, producer as well as script writer. He is considered a man of extra ordinary role playing qualities that made him one of the most famous and influential actors of subcontinent.  He ruled over Pakistan film industry for 21 years. He was called with the names of “Chocolate Hero” and “Lady Killer Veedu”. He is well-known for his charming expressions, attractive personality, tender voice and unusual talent for acting in films.

Waheed started his career in 1962 from film ‘Aulad’ and made a breakthrough of stardom in film ‘Heera Aur Patthar’. His acting with Zeba in film ‘Arman’ took him to the height of his stardom and this blockbuster film was produced by Waheed Murad himself. During his golden era, Pakistan film industry was a rising sun and did a great business.

Waheed Murad was next to Daleep Kumar, whose hairstyle and courtiers became fashionable all over, picturising romantic scenes and songs in a way that made Waheed Murad unique and singular.

Waheed was also the ideal of the youths of that age who replicated his hairstyle expressing their inner love and affection, which none of the film stars could thus far get from the fans.

He died at 45 in Karachi. In November 2010, 27 years after his death, Pakistani government awarded him the “Sitara-e-Imtiaz”, the “Star of Excellence”.

The legendary romantic hero still lives in our heart although twenty eight years have passed since he left us, as his fans all across the country commemorating death anniversary with solemnity and dedication by offering ‘Fateha’ and arranging a grand Waheed Murad Award Show.
