Clijsters come back to WTA circuit with believable straight sets win in Brisbane

In Brisbane today, on the WTA Tour, Kim Clijsters came back to competitive battle with a believable straight sets win over Simona Halep.

Since August 2011, the Belgian has not played on the circuit, but demonstrated no sign in a 6-1 6-4 success.

The 2010 champion inBrisbane, Clijsters is using the tournament as build up to her defense of the Australian Open crown.

In Melbournelast January, the 28 year old claimed her 4th grand slam championship, but an ankle injury held back her French Open campaign, in the 2nd round, where she was defeated, and she missedWimbledon.

Recurring ahead of the U.S. Open, Clijsters then experienced an abdominal difficulty, which ruled her out of her title cover.

She said that the injury was no longer hampering her service, after defeating Romanian Halep.

In the semi-finals, Williams opens Monday in opposition to South African Chanelle Scheepers and could face home hope Stosur.

In men’s battle today, 3rd seed Alexandr Dolgopolov of theUkraine eased past Alejandro Falla ofColombia 7-6 6-2.

Tuesday, Top seed Andy Murray of Britain will begin his campaign, playing his 1st   match since selecting Ivan Lendl as his permanent coach.
