Pakistan’s prominent female singer Mehnaz Begum, who died in Bahrain on Saturday, was laid to relaxation here on Monday. Her funeral prayer offered after Zohar in Khairul Amal Masjid at Ancholi area. She was hidden in Wadi-e-Hussain graveyard near Karachi. The well-known playback singer breathed her last on Saturday following a protracted illness. She had been moved towards the United States from Bahrain for treatment when her condition made worse. Earlier she continued to be put in the hospital in Karachi for 2 days. Born in 1958 in Karachi, Mehnaz Begum sang a number of genres but focused on ghazal, thumri, dadra, khayal, drupad and saying salam, noha and marsiya. She was the daughter of celebrated sub-continental singer Kajjan Begum. Based on sources her funeral prayer is going to be offered by Imam Bargah Ancholi following Zohar Prayer today (Monday). He last resting place come in Wadi-e-Hussain graveyard in Sohrab Goth, they added.
