One cop killed, 10 injured in GT Road blast near Peshawar

PESHAWAR: One cop was killed and ten others were injured in a blast that occurred near Gulbahar police station at GT Road on Saturday. According to police, an improvised explosive device (IED) targeted a police mobile when it was patrolling the area. As a result of blast, one policeman was killed and four others were injured. Six civilians were also wounded in the blast who were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar. A police mobile, two other cars and two rickshaws were damaged in the blast. Soon after the explosion, security forces reached the scene to cordon off the area and started search operation to nab the culprits. It is pertinent to mention that Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Banaras Khan narrowly escaped a life attempt when a remote-controlled bomb exploded at Chughul Pura road in the jurisdiction of Faqirabad Police Station on Friday. Unknown miscreants had planted IED containing one kg explosives near a manhole in Chughal Pura that exploded with a bang, however, the DSP remained safe.
