Openers set Pakistan in controlled

DUBAI: A firm starting stand of 114 runs from openers Mohammad Hafeez and Taufiq Umar assisted Pakistan get controlled against England on the 2nd day of the 1st Test here at the Dubai Stadium on Wednesday.

Both openers scored half centuries even as giving Century Company which was the 5th among them.

Pakistan start again their 1st innings this morning at 42-0 and added 96 runs in the 1st period as they were 138-2 at lunch.

Mohammad Hafeez remained undefeated on 70 runs and Younis Khan was not out on 6 while Taufiq Umar was bowled by Stuart Broad for 58 and Azhar Ali was caught at the back by Matt Prior off Broad for only 1run.

Hafeez so far strike 10 fours and faced 127 balls during his innings of about 3 hours while his partner Taufiq struck 10 fours in his 113 ball stay.

Fast-medium bowler Broad was the only victorious bowler forEngland who claimed 2wickets for 35 runs while their expert spinner Graeme Swann so far failed to obtain any wicket after surrendering 36 runs in 11 overs.
