The pilot and co-pilot of a police helicopter have been killed in a crash in southeast Iran.

The helicopter crashed midday Friday noon after it struck in a telecommunication tower.

The craft was to land at the southeastern Iranian town of Khash in Sistan-Baluchistan province, according to the schedule.

The report said the telecommunication tower was located on a base of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards. This area is considered a hub of frequent clashes between Iranian forces, drug dealers and a Sunni insurgent group, Jundallah.

This Sunni sect group, Jundallah has been involved in a long insurgency in the remote province and this border is shared with Pakistan and Afghanistan.
