Provincial Minister for Irrigation and Agriculture, Malik Ahmad Ali paid out an unpredicted visit to Lahore Branch Canal to look at annual desilting campaign superiority work. He instructed Moving station, Shalimar Distributory, BRB Canal, Thara, Korian Distributory, Shalimar and Wahga Mines and gave necessary actions for the concerned authorities. Chief Engineer Lahore Branch Canal Nazir Anjam, Sub Divisional Officer Malik Sarfaraz and Ex-en Chak Bandi BRB Canal Mueen-Ud-Din Sheikh together with other authorities of Irrigation Department were present round the occasion. Within the briefing Chief Engineer Lahore informed that desilting work of Lahore Branch Canal remains completed 15 days according to schedule. He mentioned that some Rs. 22 lakh remains allotted to desilting of 19km extended canal from BRB Canal around Thokar Niaz Baig. Ex-en Chak Bandi BRB informed within the briefing that agriculture parts of Gujranwala, Lahore and Kasur are increasingly being provided irrigation water from BRB Canal which has flow of 4000 cusec. He mentioned the Canal is closed through the desalting campaign, while necessary repair and cleaning in the canal continues to be completed.
