United States Agency of Worldwide Development (USAID) in the ongoing efforts to help government-possessed energy distribution companies (DISCOs) in loss cutbacks and revenue improvements is incorporated in the final stages of moving out a countrywide installing of Automated Meter Reading through (AMR) projects. Initially the project could be focusing on areas rich in robberies and considerably high line deficits. The AMR provides highly accurate electronic meter blood pressure measurements with hardly any human intervention, using computer systems to deliver meter blood pressure measurements data via GSM/GPRS and Rf. This could help DISCOs in monitoring the power consumption trends among different consumer groups, understand consumer designs, reduce electricity deficits considerably and improve their revenues. The USAID Energy Distribution Program would also introduce new equipment particularly made to lessen the frequency and time period of energy black outs.
