Ginger, tomatoes and other spices complement the flavors and make it a totally delicious dal. Try it, taste it and savor the flavors.
Wash and soak lentils in water for about half an hour.Drain.
Add turmeric powder, salt and 3 cups of water and pressure cook till lentil is done.
Whisk well and keep aside.
Heat oil in pan and add cumin seeds.
When seeds crackle, add dry red chillies, ginger green paste, chilli paste, asafoetida and green garlic and saute’ for 3 minutes.
Add tomatoes and saute’ till oil comes up.
Add cooked lentil and half cup of water and bring to a boil.
Serve hot with boiled rice
