How to treat Orphans in Islam

Orphans are those members of the community who lost their father or both the parents before reaching the age of maturity and become alone in the world or in the society. In Islam there is a great emphasize on the rights of Orphans. From the very beginning Islam always enforced people to provide protection, care, love and respect to Orphans. In Qur’an there are many verses that are emphasizing methods that how to treat Orphans.

“And they feed for the love of ALLAH, the poor, the orphans, and the captive” (Qur’an, Al-Nisa.8)

The beloved prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.W) also emphasizes on the care of orphans and also declares Jannah (Paradise) for them who are treating orphans with love and mercy.

“I and the caretaker of the orphan will enter paradise together like this, raising (by way of illustration) his forefinger and middle finger jointly leaving no space in between.” (Saheeh-al-Bukhari)

In every single matter of life Islam discussed it in Qur’an as well as in the words of messenger in order to put the people on the right path. It is the moral and religious duty of every Muslim to treat orphans in a very soft tone, provide protection to them, take care for their needs, avoid harshness and never show cruelty towards them anyone who commits these things will be surely getting rewards from ALLAH. There are some people who are treating orphans badly, for all those there are very harsh words used by ALLAH in Qur’an so many times.

“Indeed, those who devour the property of orphans unjustly are only consuming into their bellies fire and they will be burned in a blaze.” (Qur’an. Al-nisa. 10)

If you want to gain the mercy of ALLAH, want to soft your heart, want forgiveness, want that ALLAH listen to your prayers, and for all these things you just have to show love, care and mercy towards orphans.
