Borit Lake is located in Barit, in the upper Hunza Valley Northern areas of Pakistan also known as Gilgat Baatistan. Borit Lake is at an altitude of 8500 feet above the sea level. This sight is the best place to see nature’s beauty and for those who love to watch birds. There is a perfect harmony of nature. One can visit this lake between the months of March and June, large number of ducks moves from hotter region of the southern Pakistan. The birds on their way to the northwards cooler waters of central Asia rest here. Similarly, the show happens in reverse in September to November with the beginning of winter towards north. A very small trek of about an hour will take you to Ghulkin Glacier. By following the same trek will take you to the Borit Lake along with the edge of the Gacier and go back by the same route.
Another attraction is a longer walk to Passu Gar Glacier by crossing both Ghilkin Glacier and Borit Lake. It is the best attraction for the adventure lovers. Following the same route by passing Ghulkin Glacier, continue the journey on the Southern side if the Borit Lake the completion of Borit Bala and then the deserted completion of Shahabad. Many years ago the lack of water supply to this area lead to the desertification of this village. By reaching in Passu Gar one can see a fantastic view of all the snowy crenellations next to its length. From Ghulkin to Pass the walk takes about 4-5 hours.
This lake can be accessed by 2 km route from Hussaini village in jeep which is located nearby to Ghulkin village. It can also be reached a trekking way from Ghulkin adirect route of 2-3 hours at the end of the Ghulkin Glacier.
